ICT Modular Training Programmes

Modular Training Programmes are skill specific training programmes designed to equip participants with employable skills, required knowledge and techniques to perform maximally on their chosen field. In addition, it affords the opportunity to upskill and successful participants of any skill area can also establish their own outfit for entrepreneurship development.

The following Modular Programmes are run by ICT Department for a period of 1 to 3 months:   

• Cisco Training on IT Essential & PC Support
  - On completion, students should be able to assemble, configure and test microcomputer systems.


• Cisco Training on Introduction to Network
  - On completion, students should be able to install and configure computer network system, and build peer-to-peer and wireless network for small office environment.
  - They are also trained on using Local Area Network application and configuring of network devices such as Switches, Routers, Wireless access points and wireless bridges.


• Cisco Training on Routing & Switching Essentials
  - On completion, students should be able to configure and implement routing protocols used in Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) as well as troubleshoot basic routing issues.
  


• Website Design
  - On completion, students should be able to install, configure and maintain web/media servers and browsers.
  - They will learn to create HTML documents and design simple web page using authoring tools.
  - They are also trained to develop simple internet application for publishing or electronic commerce application.
  


• Java Programming
  - On completion, students should be able to create, customize forms and perform programming using loops and arrays and simple file access management.
  - They are also trained on the concepts of programming using java language in an open environment and provide basic system support for java environment.
  


• Microsoft Office Package
  - On completion, students will gain basic hands-on experience using the integrated program of Microsoft Office Suite of desktop applications and services such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  


• Server Essentials
  - On completion, students should be able to install, configure and manage server operating system.
  


• Server Administrations
  - On completion, student should be able to install, configure and manage operating systems, create service such as telnet and ftp, use server such as HTTP Apache and samba server and optimize system by understanding resources usage, monitor networks alongside disaster recovery and security consideration.
